I got it done and I'm so very pleased. I had the most wonderful experience at the shop. Anyone in Chicago the wants her hair braided check out my post on the 17 th of Oct. I was able to get it done in 8hrs. I took enough breaks to keep me from hurting and the young woman who did my hair was really concerned about my comfort.

Beer For Hair Care
makes is a great rinse conditioner that leaves your hair more manageable. Simply bring a bottle of flat warm beer into the shower with you. Wash your hair with your regular shampoo and then rinse with beer. Rinse again thoroughly with water unless you want to smell like old beer later in the day. You can also add essential oils to the beer to the kill the smell.

Chicago Ladies
I've found a hair braider I think I'm gonna love. Her name is Fatou and she was wonderful to day as I got a consultation from her. Her shop was clean and very professional looking unlike some African shops I've been to. She was very nice and friendly easy to talk to and her prices are too bad. I plan to go on the 7th of next month to start what will be a year long hide your hair challenge for me as I grow my hair out. I want to see if I can get to Armpit length by this time next year. I will be using a good method of taking care of my hair under the braids, by conditioning and washing regularly. Her information is Fatou's 5503 N. Clark St.and her number is 773-814-9242. She does not take walk ins her hours are by appointment only. Happy hair growing ladies.

Henna

Yesterday I henna my hair and this time I added some beer to the mix. I can honestly say that the beer made a difference in the softness of my hair. I let it dry with no product and it was very soft. I noticed that I have a lot of orangey color in my hair and that's because I used Jamilla henna. Next week I'm going henna again and this time I'll be using Yemen henna. I'd really like a deeper auburn color and that's what Yemen henna gives me.

Jermaine Marcus Martin
6yrs ago today you left us, and then I began to lose my mind because I couldn't understand the how and the why it had to be you. I wore your death like a badge of honor and I wore the pain the same. I loved the attention it bought and I was very selfish. Little did I know I was slowing descending into my own private hell that could have ended with my own death. However today when I think about you it's with love and admiration. I understand the why me ( why not me) I'm no better than any other mother that lost her children. I understand the how ( because you were only on loan to me.) Today is a sad but not painful day for me as I remember everything about you son (good and bad). We had a very special relationship as only a mother and son can have, but today my son the pain has lessen. So on this day the anniversary of your death, I love and miss U but it doesn't hurt so much that I want to join you. For today I know you would want to live to be a great wife to your father, a great mother to your brother and sister, a loving grandmother your niece and nephew. But most all a loving help to all the lives I touch. I love you and miss U very son, but GOD needed you more. LOVE MOM.

Bath and Body Products

I make these bath bombs and other bath products such as Sugar Scrub, Foaming Bath butter, Bath melts and a Foot Scrub. I love making these products for myself and hopefully soon I'll be selling them. If you'd like a sample leave a comment and your email address and I get in touch with you. Also I use shea, cocoa and mango butter to make them and they make your skin feel so soft and moisturized.

My Winter Regime
As it gets colder I've decided that sometime next month, I going to get my hair braided and follow the suggestion from Growyourafrohairlong.com. I've never been a person who wanted really long hair, because I always felt it would be a lot of work. However after Chris Rock did his documentary so people that we black women all wear weaves if we have long hair which is so far from the truth. So in my quest to prove him wrong I've decided to grow my hair to Arm Pit Length (APL)that's enough hair for me. So I'm going into protective styles until May of 2010.Wish me Luck.

Recipe for a great hair butter.
Ladies I usually don't publish my hair butter recipes but this one is to good to keep to myself.
I used
2ozs of shea butter
1oz of Coffee Bean Butter
1oz Cupaucu Butter
1oz of JBCO Oil
1oz of Rice bran Oil
3ozs of Long Aid Activator Gel
I mixed the the butters and oils together and then I slowly added the gel.
It made a very wonderful and nice twist butter. Try it.
